Pilare van Kultuur
1. Mobiliserende Dissipelskap
“Just the Word, and you dry up, just the Spirit and you blow up. A balance of the Word and the Spirit, and you grow up.”
12. Koninkryksuitnemendheid
Pillars of Culture
1. Mobilising Discipleship
- Discipleship is the primary measure of success in all activities in Living Word.
- Everything we do is strategically aligned with our Mandate and Discipleship Process of Winning, Establishing, Equipping and Sending.
- We believe that you cannot export what you cannot reproduce at home. Your biggest and most important discipleship group is your own family.
- Our aim in discipleship is not only to disciple one another so that we can grow in spiritual maturity, but to raise up disciple makers.
- Missionality is about reaching out to your: spiritual family, local church, city, province, country and the world.
- We have a clear mandate and prophetic words for planting congregations in every city and town in South Africa.
2. Sacrificial Servanthood
- We first serve a community before we earn the right to minister to that community.
- As Paul writes to the Church of Rome in Romans 15: We do not live to please ourselves, but we live to do what is right for others and to bring them into spiritual maturity.
- As we lay down the desires of our flesh and serve each other, we honour God.
3. Christ-like Humility
- We shall display an attitude of humility and servanthood in all that we do.
- We always speak ‘up’ to people, never ‘down’ to people. We always treat everyone with love and respect.
- We refer to functions, not titles. In Living Word there is no place for pride, self-importance or status. According to 1 Peter 5:5, we expect all staff, volunteers, and especially our leaders, to serve the flock.
4. Christ-centered Worship
- We believe in a lifestyle of worship, honouring Christ through humility and servanthood.
- The worship songs we sing are focused on honouring God, not pleasing man.
5. Reconciling Intersession
- As Jesus is interceding for us at the right hand of God the Father and the Holy spirit intercedes for us here on earth, so we also intercede for one another.
- It is our heartfelt prayer that we will exhibit to each other the grace that Jesus has shown us, and that we will reconcile man with God.
6. Mutual Honour
- We value every person as being made in the image of God and we therefore believe that everyone should be loved and respected, regardless of gender, cultural or social status.
- We guard against perceptions and personal opinions of others.
- We do not talk about others in a negative or condescending manner.
- We communicate our expectations of others and set clear boundaries.
7. Cultural Accountability
- We faithfully commit to Living Word’s Vision, Mission Pillars of Culture.
- We are responsible to our congregation, not responsible for our congregation, in the sense that we do not deny people the opportunity to take ownership and responsibility for themselves.
- We spend the Lord's money with more consideration than we will ever spend our own money – with the utmost transparency and accountability.
- We are committed to the spiritual disciplines of prayer, fasting, Bible reading and meditation, and we hold each other accountable to these disciplines.
- We shall always walk in honesty, uprightness and integrity with regard to our relationships, finances, time, resources and responsibilities.
8. Spiritual Unity
- We are continuously committed to furthering mutual Godly unity, and to actively resist anything that will promote disunity and disharmony.
- Relationships are our priority. The ‘issue’ is never more important than the person, and the task is never more important than the relationship.
- We shall at all times display God’s attitude of love and grace towards all people.
9. Ministry Empowerment
- In ministering to people, we are constantly aware of man as a three-part being, consisting of spirit, soul and body. We strive to maintain a balance with regard to these.
- The best way to enlarge your own capacity is by developing people with a similar calling to yours.
- In order to move forward in the vision God has given you, you need to reproduce yourself with strategic succession planning.
- Succession planning is not about getting someone to assist you with your personal growth, but to develop each person within their specific and unique calling.
10. Biblical Truth
- We are tireless in our commitment to seek biblical truth and live according to that truth.
- We do not allow popular culture or the pressures of society to dictate our interpretation of Scripture.
- We are committed to constant learning and development of our knowledge and understanding of the Word of God.
11. Holy Spirit Inspired
- We encourage all family members to function in the gifts of the Spirit as described in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10.
- We make space in our services for miracles and manifestations of the Holy Spirit.
- We constantly maintain a balance between the Word and the Spirit - “Just the Word, and you dry up, just the Spirit and you blow up. A balance of the Word and the Spirit, and you grow up.”
12. Kingdom Excellence
- We regard excellence as part of our worship and our contribution to our spiritual family in which we serve.
- We believe that excellence honours God and inspires people, and that when we do things in excellence, we can draw people into the Kingdom of God.
- We seek to constantly improve and develop all aspects of ministry, and to find and fine-tune more effective ways of raising up disciple makers.
